Gunner Marthinus Hermanus Sadler, South African Artillery

Sadler arrived on the30th of April, 1943 in Suez and on the 24th of Jan 1944, was posted to the 6th SAAD reserve artillery regiment. on the 25th of June 1944, he was posted to the 4/22nd field regiment. This regiment was a unit with a high proportion of Infantry veterans, most of whom had served since North Africa. The 4/22nd provided artillery support for the 6th SA Armoured Division through the fighting in Italy, and were present at the battle of Battle of Celleno, Mt. Porro Del Bagna, and many more throughout Italy, Shelling the towns of Finale & San Giovanne during the final drive northwards in April, 1945

Sadler enlisted in December 1941, and was posted to the General Services Corps

Sadler was moved from Premier Mine Depot, to the Field Army Artillery Depot, and was re-mustered as a gunner.

He was admitted to hospital in July for a few days, and prior on the 20th of June 1942 he was transferred to the 21st field regiment SAA, (61st field battery).

Sadler arrived back in South African in November 1945, and was dischaged on the 12th of January 1946
