Aircraftsman Hermanus Johannes Sem, SAAF 1/12th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment

Sem initially served with the 52nd Heavy-Anti Aircraft regiment, from the 24th of August to the 8th of July 1943. Then he was transferred to 1/12th L-Anti Aircraft Regiment in Egypt on the 1st of October 1943 until the 15th of April 1944. He arrived in Italy with his unit throughout the rest of the war, and went with the unit to Egypt on the 12th of October 1945, returning home and discharging on the 7th of February 1946.

Aircraftsman Hermanus Johannes Sem, 1/12th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment

Sem enlisted SAAF at 21 years old, born Christmas day 1919. 27th of August 1942. Oddly this is 3 full days after he assumed service.

Sem initially served with the 52nd Heavy-Anti Aircraft regiment, from the 24th of August to the 8th of July 1943. Then he was transferred to 1/12th L-Anti Aircraft Regiment in Egypt on the 1st of October 1943 until the 15th of April 1944. He arrived in Italy with his unit throughout the rest of the war, and went with the unit to Egypt on the 12th of October 1945, returning home and discharging on the 7th of February 1946.

This medal, according to documents attained, lead us to believe that this medal is one of the medals stolen from his residence by his Gardener, as it is impressed, NOT engraved as is detailed in his re-issue documents.
